Written Proposals and Cultural Support Plans
Before the final orders the Department of Communities must file a written proposal.
The written proposal sets out the plans that the department thinks is best for the child. As well as the plans for working towards the child returning to live with their parents.
It also has to explain why the department is not planning on the child going back to their parents.
The proposal sets out the plans for making sure the child has long term consistency in their life. Along with security and safety where they will live. And who the people are that they will be around.
For an indigenous child the written proposal also has to include a cultural support plan.
This is also needed for a child with a culturally diverse background.
The cultural support plan sets out how they will keep ties to their culture.
