Law Access Walk

The Law Access Walk for Justice is an annual event. It is strongly supported by the legal industry in Western Australia.

It raises funds for pro bono work which is free or low fee legal assistance. It enables the giving of legal help to people who cannot afford a lawyer. It also celebrates the pro bono work of the legal profession of Western Australia.

The President of the Children's Court was an Event Ambassador for 2023.

Several of our staff members also participated in the walk. The walk started in Barrack Square, going along the city foreshore and finished at the Bell Tower.

Participants are sponsored to complete the walk or anyone can donate to raise funds.

The walk is run by Law Access. Their vision is "equal access to justice for all West Australians."

Law Access is a subsidiary of the Law Society of Western Australia. They are a service of last resort for people who cannot get legal help from anywhere else.

They assess applications from those in genuine need and work with:

  • the courts;
  • Legal Aid,
  • community legal centres;
  • university law schools;
  • legal industry associations; and
  • lawyers from all around the state.

You can get more information about Law Access on their website.
