Call Order in Criminal Combined Court

Information Note

This Information Note relates to the order in which matters will be called in the Criminal Combined Court at the Perth Children’s Court and will take effect from 11 November 2024.

Subject to the video link requirement below and the discretion of the presiding judicial officer, matters in the Criminal Combined Court will be called in the following order of priority:

  1. Safety/welfare issues.
  2. Accused in custody.
  3. Adjournments.
  4. Seniority of Counsel.

Video links for accused in custody at Banksia Hill Detention Centre and Unit 18 will commence from 12 pm. This will allow detainees to complete their morning schooling and programs before appearing in court by video link, and assist in better management of the Perth Children's Court detention centre because custody matters can be dealt with earlier.

This Information Note does not apply to regional Children's Courts.
